Looking after our patients and our planet.

A healthy community needs a healthy environment. We are cutting our carbon footprint across all our practices, in step with the NHS commitment to become the world’s first net zero health service.

Greener, more sustainable care at a Penrose Health practice

Our direction

Working towards net zero.

2040

the NHS net zero target we are working towards

What we are doing

Greener care, in practical ways.

We are cutting our carbon footprint in practical ways: an electric-vehicle scheme for eligible staff, LED lighting across our sites, a strong recycling programme, and encouraging staff and patients to use public transport. We also recruit locally from the communities we serve.

“We are aligning with NHS England’s plan to deliver a net zero health service, with our Carbon Reduction Plan in development in line with NHS requirements.”
