Recognised at the Lewisham GP Excellence Awards

·

By Penrose Health

In January 2026, general practice teams from across Lewisham came together for the third Lewisham General Practice Excellence Awards, held at the Rivoli Ballroom in Brockley. Run by the Lewisham CEPN Training Hub, the evening celebrates the people and teams making a difference for patients across the borough.

We were proud that our Lewisham Medical Centre team won the borough award for completing the highest proportion of learning disability health checks, at 95 percent. These annual checks help people with a learning disability stay well and pick up health problems early, and the result reflects steady, proactive work by the whole team.

Colleagues across the group were also nominated across several categories: Nightingale Surgery for GP Practice of the Year, Dr Rachel Haddon for GP of the Year, Urszula Kiermasz at Kingfisher Medical Centre for Practice Nurse of the Year, and Dr Sarah Hawxwell for the Inspiring Leader Award. Our thanks go to the Lewisham CEPN Training Hub and the South East London Workforce Development Hub for recognising the everyday work of general practice across our borough.
